Having a doctoral degree, she writes with credibility from an academic standpoint, but I believe what makes her writing and speaking so impacting is the fact that she has lived a life of poverty and successfully found a way through it. These are things such as the lack of livable-wage jobs and affordable housing. Faculty and staff can direct students in how to access these resources. The food pantry is an important campus resource serving hundreds of students per month.

I strongly recommend this book, especially for teachers, professors, social workers, or anyone who wants to understand and help those in poverty.
